User setup guide

The laptop, tablet, or phone setup a user needs for SignGlasses sessions, and what every setup has in common.

Choose the setup you will be using. Each one needs only a few things to work well.

Laptop

  • A laptop from 2020 or newer with Windows 10 or macOS 11 or later, 8 GB of RAM or more, and a built-in camera. Use an adapter or dock if the laptop does not have enough USB ports.
  • An up-to-date web browser.
  • An external microphone.
  • An external webcam, pointed at the presenter or the board.

A lapel microphone must be worn by the presenter. It does not pick up enough sound from a desk.

Surface Go

  • A Surface Go 2 or Surface Go 3 with Windows 10 or later.
  • An up-to-date web browser.
  • An external microphone.
  • A tablet stand.

A Bluetooth keyboard is optional.

iPad or phone

  • An iPad or phone with iOS 18 or later, or Android 15 or later.
  • The SignGlasses mobile app. See Use the mobile app.
  • A Bluetooth microphone.

A stand is optional.

Requirements for every setup

  • An external microphone.
  • A camera pointed at the presentation area. This can be the built-in camera or an external webcam, depending on your setup.
  • An internet speed of at least 10 Mbps.
  • Access to signglasses.com. Your IT or network department may need to allow it.
  • The ability to receive email from SignGlasses.

For the specific devices SignGlasses has tested, see Supported devices.
