User setup guide
The laptop, tablet, or phone setup a user needs for SignGlasses sessions, and what every setup has in common.
Choose the setup you will be using. Each one needs only a few things to work well.
Laptop
- A laptop from 2020 or newer with Windows 10 or macOS 11 or later, 8 GB of RAM or more, and a built-in camera. Use an adapter or dock if the laptop does not have enough USB ports.
- An up-to-date web browser.
- An external microphone.
- An external webcam, pointed at the presenter or the board.
A lapel microphone must be worn by the presenter. It does not pick up enough sound from a desk.
Surface Go
- A Surface Go 2 or Surface Go 3 with Windows 10 or later.
- An up-to-date web browser.
- An external microphone.
- A tablet stand.
A Bluetooth keyboard is optional.
iPad or phone
- An iPad or phone with iOS 18 or later, or Android 15 or later.
- The SignGlasses mobile app. See Use the mobile app.
- A Bluetooth microphone.
A stand is optional.
Requirements for every setup
- An external microphone.
- A camera pointed at the presentation area. This can be the built-in camera or an external webcam, depending on your setup.
- An internet speed of at least 10 Mbps.
- Access to signglasses.com. Your IT or network department may need to allow it.
- The ability to receive email from SignGlasses.
