Connect to StreamText
Connect your captioning software to StreamText, start a SignGlasses session there, and stop the session when it ends.
Some sessions are captioned in StreamText. You connect the StreamText Connector application to your captioning software, then start the session from your StreamText dashboard.
Open the StreamText Connector
- Open the StreamText Connector application.
- Make sure your settings match these:
- Connection Settings: your StreamText email
- COM Port Number: COM20
- Select the green Connect and Write button.
The status next to Connected to server changes from “False - [Live]” to “True - [Live]”.
Set up your captioning software
Most captioning software works with StreamText. Set up your software for StreamText before you continue. If you use Case CATalyst, follow Set up CaseCAT for StreamText.
When your software is connected, the status next to COM Port Connected changes to “True”.
Sign in to StreamText

- Enter your login details.
- Select Sign in.
Select the organization
- In the top-right corner, select the arrow next to your name.

- Select Complete sign in.
SignGlasses recommends that you check the box next to Set this as my default organization.
Start captioning
- On your StreamText dashboard, find the session you need to caption.
- Select Start. If the session has already started, select Watch.
- Begin captioning in the page that opens.
If you are working with a team, change the writer to yourself before each of your turns. See Hand over captioning in StreamText.
Stop the session
- When the session is over, go back to the dashboard and select Stop.
- In the window that appears, select the blue Stop Event button.
The event details load again. Go back to the dashboard to confirm: the status of the session is now Completed.
