TypeWell transcript formatting
What a TypeWell transcript needs before you upload it to SignGlasses.
A transcript should be accurate and readable, so the consumer can rely on it to understand the session. These expectations apply to most SignGlasses TypeWell sessions.
They match the CART expectations with one difference: the rule to type every word exactly as spoken, including filler words and stutters, applies to CART only.
Date and title
At the top of the transcript, add the date and the session name. Do not include any disclaimers.
Show who is speaking
Identify the speaker as often as you can. If you do not know a speaker’s name, use a general label such as “Instructor”, “Teacher”, or “Professor”.
Document the spoken content and what happens
Type the spoken content, and also note what happens in the session. More detail is better. Add the time when it is relevant.
These notes help when SignGlasses looks into a technical problem in a session, or when a coordinator reviews how sessions are going.
Work with a team
Some sessions are solo. When you work with a team:
- Connect at the scheduled time, even if you are not the one starting.
- Rotate every 20 minutes.
- Label who is captioning during each rotation.
- Stitch the transcript together, and agree who uploads it.
Consumer requests
Some consumers ask SignGlasses for a specific format. Be ready to revise a transcript based on feedback. If you have a concern or a suggestion, tell the SignGlasses team.
When the transcript is ready, see Upload a transcript.
