Technical requirements for practitioners
The computer, browser, internet connection, headset, and workspace an interpreter or captioner needs to work on SignGlasses.
Your setup must meet these requirements before you work sessions on SignGlasses. Many devices work. Anything that meets the requirements on this page should work well.
Computer
A laptop or tablet from 2017 or newer with:
- A built-in camera.
- Windows 8 or later, or macOS 10.10 or later.
- At least 8 GB of RAM and a 64-bit processor with 2 or more cores.
iPads are not compatible. Chromebooks gave a poor experience in testing. You can use a newer Chromebook, but if it does not perform well you will need to switch to a different device.
Browser and internet
- An up-to-date web browser.
- An upload and download speed of at least 10 Mbps. You can test your speed at speedtest.net.
- A wired Ethernet connection. This is required.
To test your camera, microphone, speakers, and connection before a session, open Equipment check in the sidebar.
Headset
A wired headset is required. Choose one that is comfortable for long sessions.
SignGlasses has tested these headsets and recommends them:
- Sonitum Headset
- Cyber Acoustics Stereo Headset
- Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset
Requirements for your service
Captioning software. These programs work well with SignGlasses:
- TypeWell
- CaseCATalyst
- Eclipse
- Dragon NaturallySpeaking
- C-Print
For the steps to connect yours, see Connect your captioning software. To test a connection with SignGlasses before a session, email techsupport@signglasses.com.
