Share your calendar availability
Link your Google, Outlook, or Apple calendar so SignGlasses can see when you are free or busy.
When you share your personal calendar, the SignGlasses operations team can see whether you are free or busy at the time of a specific job, and your job board leaves out assignments that overlap a busy time. SignGlasses does not see or save the titles, details, or guests of your events, only the start and end times. An event you mark as free does not count as busy.
You do this in two parts. First, make your calendar public and copy its iCal link, which ends in .ics. Then paste the link into your SignGlasses profile. It works with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and Apple Calendar.
Get the link from Google Calendar
- Open Google Calendar.
- Select the gear icon at the top right, then select Settings.
- Under Settings for my calendars, select the name of the calendar you want to share.
- Under Access permissions for events, check Make available to public.
- In the drop-down menu, choose See only free/busy (hide details). This is recommended. SignGlasses does not store your event details either way.
- Select OK.
- Open the Integrate calendar section.
- Copy the link under Public address in iCal format.
Get the link from Microsoft Outlook
- Open your Outlook calendar.
- Select the gear icon at the top right, then select Shared calendars.
- Under Publish a calendar, choose the calendar you want to share.
- Under Select permissions, choose Can view when I’m busy.
- Select Publish.
- Select the link in the ICS row, then select Copy link. The link must end in
ics, nothtml.
Get the link from Apple Calendar
- Open Apple Calendar.
- Move your pointer over the iCloud calendar you want to share.
- Select the person icon to the right of the calendar name.
- Check Public Calendar, then select Done.
- Select the person icon again and copy the link shown there.
Paste the link into your profile
- In SignGlasses, select View profile at the bottom left of your screen.
- Select the Availability tab.
- Under External calendar url, paste the link into Calendar url (.ics).
- Select Save url.
SignGlasses reads the link and confirms that the calendar url is updated. After that, it reads your calendar once a day. The text under the field shows when it last synced.
If you see an error instead, SignGlasses could not read the link. Check that the calendar is public and that the link ends in .ics, then save it again.
Stop sharing
Clear Calendar url (.ics), then select Save url.
