Enable your camera and microphone in your browser
Give SignGlasses access to your camera and microphone in Google Chrome, and unblock them in your computer's privacy settings.
Your browser must allow SignGlasses to use your camera and microphone before they work in a session. The steps below show how to do this in Google Chrome.
Before you start, plug in your external camera and microphone, and turn the microphone on.
Allow SignGlasses in Chrome
- Open SignGlasses in Chrome.
- Select the icon to the left of the page address.
- Turn on Camera and Microphone.
- Reload the page.
If Chrome asks for access when you join a session, select Allow.
Choose your camera and microphone in Chrome
A session starts with the camera and microphone Chrome uses, until you choose others in the session.
- Select the three-dot menu at the top right of Chrome.
- Select Settings.
- Select Privacy and security on the left.
- Select Site settings.
- Select Camera.
- Choose your external camera from the menu at the top of the page.
- Select Sites can ask to use your camera.
- Select the back arrow next to Camera.
- Select Microphone.
- Choose your external microphone from the menu at the top of the page.
- Select Sites can ask to use your microphone.
If your computer blocks the camera or microphone
Your computer can also block Chrome from using the camera or microphone.
On a Mac:
- Open System Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security.
- Select Camera and turn on Google Chrome. Do the same under Microphone.
- Quit Chrome and open it again.
On Windows:
- Open Settings.
- Select Privacy & security.
- Select Camera and turn on access for apps and desktop apps. Do the same under Microphone.
- Reload the SignGlasses page.
Check your camera and microphone
Open Equipment check in the sidebar. It shows a preview from your camera and a level meter for your microphone. If something is still blocked, the page explains how to allow it.
