Connect Eclipse to SignGlasses
Set up a Keyboard Macro output in Total Eclipse so your captions reach a SignGlasses session, and load it each time you caption.
Total Eclipse sends your captions to SignGlasses through its Keyboard Macro output. You set this up once in your user settings, which open with Alt+U.
Add the Keyboard Macro output
- Open Total Eclipse.
- Press Alt+U and select Save Settings. Name the new settings Keyboard Macro, and select OK.
- Press Alt+U and open the Realtime tab. Under Output Formats, select Add.
- In the dialog that opens, find Output in the upper left and select Keyboard Macro from the dropdown list.
- Under Com Device, choose Com port.
- Select Setup, then select Device Manager.
- Select Ports and select one of the ports. Select OK.
- Select Save Settings, and select OK.
Allow Backspaces can stay checked.
If Keyboard Macro is greyed out in step 4, close the realtime file and try again.
Change the paragraph macro
- Press Alt+U and open the Edit tab. Select Macros.
- Scroll down the list of macros, select K:LINEFEED, and select Edit.
- Change the name of the macro to K:PARAGRAPH, and select OK.
Finish the setup
- On the Realtime tab, make sure Eclipse is Top Window is unchecked.
- On the User tab, save your settings one more time.
Eclipse is now ready. You can join your session and begin captioning.
Before each session
- Connect your steno writer.
- Open Total Eclipse.
- Load your settings.
- Enter a name for a new file, and select OK.
If your captions do not appear
- Go back to step 7 and select a different port. Try each port until one works.
- If Eclipse also does not connect to other browser-based applications, such as Google Docs, the cause is likely your browser and Eclipse settings. Contact Eclipse support.
